hi, most of the new windows 7 machines are 64 bit, i know people who have switched and said it can be hard to configure programmes to work on a 64 bit OS. i don't know if windows 7 comes in a 32 bit version i know in pc world all machines are now 64 bit or at least that is what i was told. john carroll. A 32 bit operating system can only address a limited number of memory byte addresses as it uses just 32 bits to determine a location thus I think it is around 3/4 gigs of memory that it is limited to. whereas when using a 64 bit operating system the number of memory bytes it can address is much greater thus allowing for much more memory to be accessed. Note that many applications are still written for 32 bit windows so may not work correctly on a 64 bit version. Hope this helps On 11/3/09, kerrygirl18@xxxxxxxxx <kerrygirl18@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Thanks esmond > What's the difference between 32 and 64 bit? > -original message- > Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Jaws 11 and vista > From: Esmond Walshe <esmond.walshe@xxxxxxxxx> > Date: 03/11/2009 11:17 am > > Hi Joanann, > > It depends on which version of the operating system you have > installed.
