Hi Maureen, First thing after you open configuration manager, do ctrl-shift-d. then go into options as usual. Do what I outlined previously there. Now, there may be the addedproviso Paul mentioned that if you do not have administrative rights, you will have to get them or let the admin do it for you, so that the changes will be saved. perhaps the lack of admin rights has been your problem all along, since its first occurrence. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maureen Newelll" <mcnewell@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 4:00 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Changing document presentation to simple layout Paul and Flor, thanks for coming back to me but I am not clear on either of your instructions. Paul, it is the simple layout I want but I cannot get it to stay at this. Yes, in the JAWS Manager it is set at this but everytime I go into a web page I have to go into verbosity and change it again in order to read the links in sequence. For instance, with the Cork Examiner, when I go in to this and arrow down it reads "home visited link text only", The simple layout will read it as two separate links or pages. Flor, if I do control shift and D for the default CM, do I have to go into options after this? I don't seem to get anything after I do control/shift/D. ----- Original Message ----- >From: "Paul Traynor" <paul.traynor@xxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 12:21 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Changing document presentation to simple layout Hi Maureen, You have partly sorted the problem yourself, see below for my extra comments. "I have gone into JAWS configuration Manager and in the HTML options this is set to simple layout." p.t. When in the configuration manager and you see that it is set to "simple layout" as you mention above, just down arrow to "screen layout". Then press the enter key. Before you leave the configuration manager, you must take the extra step of "saving your changes". Use keys; control + S to do this then exit with alt + F4 and you should be good to go. Just remember Maureen, that this will make permanent your settings and you will continue to have jaws read WebPages in "screen layout " mode which may not always be suitable. Note: For anyone doing this in their workplace and who may have a computer governed by an administrator you need to have administration rights before you can do the above.
