Karyn, I've seen very reasonably priced, $8 to $15 kitchen timers with tactile marks at discount stores like Wal-mart, Target etc. I can't remember any brand names though. They had a round face like a clock with raised marks at five minute intervals, which would be the same as where the numbers are on a clock face. You simply turn the dial in the center until the pointer lines up with the amount of time you want to set it for. As the timer counts down the dial turns so you could tactually tell approximately how much time was left. they only go up to one hour and are not extremely precise. Does your microwave or oven have a timer option that you could use? My old microwave had a very easy to use countdown timer, but it croaked. The microwave I have now has a ton of features that I've no clue how to use. I think I will do the shopping next time! *smile* HTH Julie http://www.livingblind.com/eml Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
