Birders,
I rode through portions of Veterans Park This morning around 9 and again
around. The Prothonotary warbler nestlings fledged today. This afternoon I
heard them nearby and was looking for them. But when I heard a Black-bill
Cuckoo I decided to look for that instead. I didn't find it though. Maybe
tomorrow morning. I saw a nice twisting Osprey dive into the beaver pond
before the enterance. It came up with a small(unidentified)fish. Others I
saw/heard today(and each of the past few days)
Easter Peewee(good looks today)
Baltimore Oriole
Eastern Bluebirds (adults and fledglings)(3 broods from the park bluebird trail
so far)
Brown Thrasher(likes the raparian restoration area)
Great Egrets
I've been pleased to hear a Wood Thrush in my neighborhood for awhile. It's
really very marginal habitat and cat infested. I thought for sure he would
move out but he hasn't. So today I when looking(and listening) and found a
pair! I wish them luck. They will need it. I found 3 fledgeing Blue Jays and
3 fledging morning doves(and one adult) in some pines while I was searching for
the Thrush. Bouses points!
