I went to Thompson for the first time with Bart Hutchinson on Sunday. In
addition to the species Todd noted on Thursday, we saw or heard 4 each of
HOODED and WORM-EATING warblers, 3 B&W warblers, and a YELLOW-THROATED
VIREO. It was a particular treat for me to hear at least 8 CERULEANS, more
than tripling my life total. The sheer number of REDSTARTS is pretty
amazing. We didnt even try to count, but we must have heard at least 25.
We only tried to see a few, but interestingly, each one was an immature
male. We had not a single bird that was an obvious migrant, although I did
have a singing SWAINSONS THRUSH in White Oaks Park Monday morning.
