One of my first signs of spring is the movement of Ring-billed Gulls
to the northwest, which I noticed for the first time this morning. About
3:30 this morning I heard a few flying over the house. Then later after
sunrise I saw or heard a few more going over Fairfax City. They are
starting their return to the Great Lakes breeding grounds by following the
Potomac River to the northwest.
