Two weeks ago, my husband and I also saw the same goose. We tried to
contact park officials, but were greeted with a phone recording that stated
that they were only open M-F. We then contacted the Wildlife Rescue League,
but were unable to get very far on that route either. So, if anyone has any
information on how to help the goose, please also cc me, I'd like to know
for future reference.

Yesterday evening I was enjoying the evening at Burke Lake Park near Fairfax
and noticed a collared, banded Canada has a fish hook with short line
attached stuck into his neck, just above the collar.
I entered at the Boat landing area past the main entrance on 123 coming from
Burke Lake Road. I was sitting on a bench at the point across from the wide
paved trail that goes across the dyke. The pair swam from the trail area to
the point and came up on the shore to eat an apple. I could never get a
view to read the band numbers.
I am hoping that someone can remove the hook or direct me to the correct
people to contact. If my directions make no sense, please contact me off
