       Things were back to normal this evening.  Had 5 single Common
Nighthawks flying over during the first 2 hours of observation.  Then a
group of 7 flew high overhead to the NE.  My interpretation of this behavior
is that these birds were migrating further to the west, then with
approaching sunset when they could no longer migrate shifted direction and
flew to areas where they could feed at night.  I have also seen this
behavior in Chimney Swifts were they come out of the west and fly NE to a
major roost site a few miles away.
