Hi All,
Want to post this for you as this is a grand collection
of Eagles some of you may want to see..... I know some
of you sometime visit that area in Hardy county.....
A short trip down to Baker, WV to look for some of the eagles
reported a couple of days ago was unbelievable.....
In the 8-10 mile stretch between Baker and Lost River along rt 259
I saw 21 Bald Eagles and 2 Golden Eagles in trees or soaring above
the valley. The most concentrated section was south of the Rt 55/259
intersection in Baker. Heading south the road bends right at 3.7 miles
and there's a large gravel area to pull over onto. This is where 14 of the
Eagles were seen.
Saw more immature Bald Eagles than adults and 1 immature
Golden with an older Golden soaring along with it. This provided an
excellent opportunity to compare the two side by side. The immature
GOEA's white wing markings were very apparent The size of the head
in proportion to the rest of the body was noticeably smaller on the Golden
Eagles. Wow.... what a sight.
