Birding my patch of wooded stream bottomlands this morning at Ashburn Farm
development , I ran into a small migrant flock of warblers which included
Great Crested F/C , Yellow-bellied F/C , Eastern Wood-Pewee 4 , Chestnut-sided
1
, Magnolia 3 ,Black-throated Green 4 ,Black and White 1, Redstart 3 ,C.
Yellowthroat 2 and Red-eyed Vireo 6 .
Proceeding to a more open area adjacent to a wetland with low bushes and
goldenrod ,I had brief but convincing views of a Connecticut Warbler (
juvenal) with complete eye-ring walking on the ground .The bird initially
responded to pishing but then rapidly moved away and I could only raise Common
Yellowthroats subsequently. There is a reasonable chance that it may stay in
the
locality for a few days and I will try to relocate early tomorrow morning. If
I
find it again I will post locality details.
