Thank you for that esummary Armando, I did understand your explanation. The very important thing to do is update those programmes every day but instead of LiveUpdate as in NAV, it must be manually - no problem. I do have the three, SpywareBlaster, AdAware and Spybot S&D and tried to download the SpywareGuard on reading your email; however there must be a bit of a problem with the site. I shall keep trying though. Thankyou again Sandy :) ----- Original Message ----- From: <avbsantos@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <triadtechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, February 08, 2004 4:58 PM Subject: [triadtechtalk] Re: POP UP STOPPER > That's a mouthful of questions in one short sentence, > Sandy. > > Certainly you must have heard of "buffer underruns and > overflows" in Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player > and other components of Windows...the reason for so > many service packs and patches to be issued by MS. > > In the language of internet file tranfers,HTML, > ActiveX, Java, etc., certain protocols are used on a > normal basis to give the surfer access to websites, > i.e., the transfer of info in the form of files and > rendered visually in our screens. > > By using this very same language's design other files > can be transferred into our PC, malware & spyware, > without our approval or knowledge. > > SB basically sets a "kill bit", a code, in the registry > to stop this type of exploitation.
