I turn the lights on at dusk and the dogs and I check often. Sometimes we just sit out there in our lawn-chairs and I play on my IPad or if I'm watching TV I check during commercials. Then when I get a few I upload the pictures and work on some ID-ing while the battery charges for the camera. It's addictive fun and I am retired so my sleep pattern is all wacky. Catch you later. I usually turn the lights on before it starts to get dark and then check it just before bedtime which for me is about 9:00 to 9:30. Then, when I get up to use the toilet between 2:00 and 4:00, I take another look and then take a last look when I get up between 5:00 and 6:00.I don't do this all that often as you can tell by my FOY dates. It's pretty surprising the different mixes I find by checking those 3 times.Ken Childs Henderson, TN Chester County From: Jean Obrist <innisfreehorses@xxxxxxxxxx> To: tn-moths@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Fri, September 10, 2010 9:15:02 AM Subject: [tn-moths] Re: 5 other highlights I've been leaving the black light on all night, then getting some good moths in the morning. I have to get pix before the Carolina wrens come in. They think I'm providing breakfast now. When the porch lights are on, the house centipedes come out in force too. Predators seem to know when there is a golden opportunity.Jean Obrist ----- Original Message ----- From: klight10@xxxxxxxxxxx To: tn-moths@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, September 10, 2010 9:32 AM Subject: [tn-moths] Re: 5 other highlightsDon't spend too much time looking up the second critter, it is a planthopper (or maybe leafhopper if it has spines on its back legs). Did you get 25 new ones last night?! I guess I'm going to bed too early (midnight last night), because I just didn't see much last night.Kris ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diana Stock-Prescott" <diana.stockprescott@xxxxxxx> To: tn-moths@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, September 10, 2010 3:17:46 AM Subject: [tn-moths] 5 other highlights Quite the night. I have at least 25 moths to look up and ID. Here are just a few other highlights from tonight but I'm so sleepy. Diana, Knox Co.
