Hi folks,
I haven't been able to post the results from Saturday's count in Decatur County
because the NABA site has an issue, but I'll get them to you as soon as I can.
In the meantime, this Saturday is the Reelfoot Lake count. We will meet at the
park visitors center at 9:30, taking a break for a BBQ lunch at the Pit. The
Reelfoot area seems to be suffering right now from extreme herbicide usage and
the things that go with intensive farming. We haven't had good numbers in
several years, but we can hope for better this year. There are a few areas
that still seem to come up with decent amounts. This count is very reliable
for Broad-winged Skipper and has been a good spot historically for Bronze
Copper, although we've missed out on them the past few years. Another good
species that we see here more frequently than any other place is Yehl Skipper,
so we will keep our eyes peeled for that one. Please let me know if you plan
on joining us.
