Hi Folks,
This Saturday will be the Reelfoot Lake Count. We will meet at the park
visitors center at 9:30. Please remember to bring your $3.00 for NABA and lots
of water and sunscreen, its supposed to be quite hot with sunny skies and 90
degrees (which will actually seem cool after the upper 90s the first part of
the week!) We will take a break for BBQ lunch at the Pit. Since quite a lot
of the circle was affected by the devastating tornado back in December, there
may be areas that we will not be able to access.
This count monitors one of the best populations of Broad-winged Skipper in the
state and has been a fairly reliable spot for Bronze Coppers, although we
haven't seen any in the last two years. Total numbers have also plummeted in
the last few years, so the butterflies may be a little scarce, but we will hope
for the best.
Please let me know if you plan on attending.
See you Saturday,
Bart
