The Rufous Hummingbird on Cowan Rd., Putnam County, apparently stayed until Jan. 12; it has not been seen since that date. (At least) two unidentified hummers remain in the county; banders welcome. The Long-tailed Duck that first appeared on the Cookeville CBC Dec. 20 is still present on Cane Creek Park lake. I saw (and photographed on the latter day) a Yellow-breasted Chat in Walnut Park, a city of Cookeville park located on South Walnut one block south of Rt. 70 (Spring St.). Photo at this page of my website: http://iweb.tntech.edu/sstedman/UCRBirdReportWinter2003-2004.htm Cranes are still headed south, a flock of 40 seen in Cookeville yesterday by Winston Walden and me being the latest sighting.
