A late holiday post from Ginger Goolsby on the west end of Morristown, TN
Over the holidays, when I was not working and could watch my feeders more
often, I had both a red-breasted nuthatch and a white-breasted nuthatch at
the same time. The red-breasted one has been visiting for a couple of weeks,
but last Sunday was the first time I had seen both of them at once. The
red-breasted one was feeding at a suet feeder on my deck while the
white-breasted one patiently waited on a limb just above the feeder!
During the weekend I also saw a male Purple Finch ? he came on Christmas Eve
and again on Christmas Day. He was a little larger than the House Finches I
usually get and he definitely had the darker face patch. He was my first
Purple Finch of the season ? I rarely get them at my feeders so it was a
real treat to see him.
Hope 2005 is a good year for birding for everyone!!
