Some Cooper's I'm sure are mis-IDed as Goshawks but probably many Goshawks are overlooked in the field. They are rare but I've had an adult and an immature Goshawk in Memphis plus another immature in Lauderdale Co, and two over the years at the jump fields near Clarksdale, TN. Adults have turned up south of Memphis near Oxford MS, on two or more occasions and just a year or so back one was, I believe, photographed in Birmingham AL. With the eruption now in progress of far northern birds, this may be the year....................Also, I agree the bird in Montgomery is not a Goshawk but it doesn't hurt to try, remember Luck and the Prepared Mind go hand in hand, study up.............
