Lake Co, Tn. Mississippi River Good news for those who like to bird Island 13 which is known for some great birds. The gate is down!! Talked with the man who is leasing the land that you cross to get to Isl. 13 and birders are welcome. I was there this morning and the habitat is good. All the water is right there in front of you when you walk out onto the sandbar. It extends North to the Jetty and then south. All in a good range to see and not a lot of walking. There was about 100 shorebirds. It was really windy. I had 1 Greater and 1 Lesser yellow legs,30+ Least Sp. one semi palmated plover, and 2-3 other species that I just couldn't get on with the wind and the distance and the hills of sand.
