[TN-Bird] knox area and cades cove

Hello to everyone

I have recently moved from central Fl to outside
Knoxville area last week. After getting settled, I
finally was able to get out and check a few areas out
yesterday and today.

I went to visit ijams nature center yesterday. It is a
really great area. Certainly got my exercise in
walking all over the place. Lots of frogs in the ponds
were found, birds included barn swallows, indigo
buntings, towhee, downy woodpecker, mockingbirds,
goldfinches and many butterflies. I look forward to
exploring this area more and I am sure it will be a
great place come migration time which is almost upon
us. Hopefully it will cool off soon.

Today made a trip to cades cove. It rained this
morning and the fog looked so nice on the mountains so
figured at least it would be cool there. Saw many deer
and bucks, 1 black bear, wild turkeys, canada geese in
a field about 20 of them, several male goldfinches, 3
male indigo buntings and lots of crows. I also finally
saw several white breasted nuthathes off of wetbottom
trail. Didnt get any good photos as it was a little
dark under the trees. But it was neat to finally see
them. I am use to brown headed nuthatches coming from
FL. Hoefully will get a closer look and some photos
soon. Also found lots of swallowtails and several
damselflies I do not remember seeing in Fl.

Got lots of photos will get up someday. It will be fun
to explore the area and hopefully see more birds and
animals I want to see including:
red crossbills
pine siskins
Elk
beavers
red breasted nuthatches or a more reliable area for
white breasted nuthatches.

Lets see backyard birds I have seen in the last week,
that I did not have in florida -
house finch
song sparrows

Also quick question, if anyone knows bird calls really
good. I have woods beside my apartment complex. And
there is one bird I keep hearing its voice is
3 same notes on same pitch followed by what I would
call a trill up the chords. I keep hearing that, but
havent found the bird to go along with it. Anyone have
any ideas?

Looking forward to meeting some of you someday soon
