Carolyn Bullock and I ran our weekly trip to the Pits on Sunday, the 22nd. The numbers of Least Sandpipers remained steady from last week around 300-350. It was difficult to obtain a precise number since they were very active. A late Spotted Sandpiper was seen on the TVA pond. Ringed-billed Gulls have taken the place of the Franklins of two weeks ago. A lone Bald Eagle was seen. Northern Shovelers were the only duck seen in abundance. There were only 7 Lesser Scaup on the pond. Even the resident Shrikes were not seen, although the impaled sparrow photgraphed last week was gone, so we know they are there. Better luck next week.
