TN Birders,
Dollyann & I made a run by the Eagle Bend fish hatchery in Anderson Co. this
morning and had a few interesting birds. Following is a tally of the more
interesting sightings:
Wood Duck – 8 adults; our highest total ever here. We have been doing some
county birding lately and the hormones in the woodies are flowing. We’re
seeing them paired off in many places.
Blue-winged Teal – 19
Pectoral Sandpiper – 10. The first influx of shorebirds of note we have had
here this spring. They were in a mostly flooded pond in the back left
of the hatchery.
Wilson’s Snipe – 12
Northern Rough-winged Swallow – 1
Tree Swallow – 14
Barn Swallow – 1
Cliff Swallow – 10
Savannah Sparrow – 24. Our highest count ever here.
Great birding to all,
Ron Hoff & Dollyann Myers
