TN-birders,
Dollyann & I made a run out to the eagle Bend fish hatchery in Anderson Co.
this afternoon to see if we could find a Cackling Goose that was reported from
there recently. NO LUCK as far as we could tell. There were about 50 Canada
Geese there but we couldn’t make any of them into a Cackling.
There were 105 Redheads there, which was our all-time high count for the
hatchery. Also there were:
Gadwall-1
Lesser Scaup-3
Ruddy Duck-6
American Coot-5
Ring-billed Gull-28
The Wilson’s Snipe that have been hanging around for the past couple of months
were not found today. The pond they were usually found in, the first pond on
the right AFTER the power lines, has filled up some with water, thus
eliminating where the snipe had been staying and feeding.
Great birding,
Ron Hoff & Dollyann Myers
