Birders, I just glanced at my creek and in a perfect sunfield there is a Black-crowned Night-Heron-juvenile. In the mid 90's there were often Black-crowned Night-Herons around but I have not seen them in this area in some time. I do not live too far from a rookery on Richland Creek and my creek, Vaughns Creek, empties into Richland. I have observed a Great Blue Heron almost daily for about three weeks visiting the creek. The creek is full now and there are numerous fish present. As I watch, the heron is moving to get into the sun. It is 17 degrees here and I guess he is cold! Linda V.
