10 or so people converged on Radnor L. this morning starting at 7:00 AM. The birding was excellent; migrants continue to be present in very good numbers. It took almost 3.5 hours just to get to Long Bridge. Highlights: 22 species of warbler (the group that went all the way around may have a few more) 6 Mourning Warblers - one shy of my personal record for one day; several were seen well. I don't think there is any place in this state where you can more easily find this species. 7 Blackburnians Several Wilson's and Canada Warblers lots of thrushes, including good looks at Gray-cheeked and Veery several Empidonax flycatchers including 3-4 Leasts, 2-4 Yellow-bellied, and one probable Alder (based on call notes and a brief but inconclusive visual) Blue Grosbeak behind the old visitor's center Still no Connecticut, but pretty much everything else you could ask for in good numbers. Also notably absent were orioles and cuckoos; despite significant time in the field in good habitat, I have yet to record a cuckoo this year. I had planned on going to Beaman tomorrow but think instead I will head back to Radnor to look for Connecticut, study empids, and try to photograph Mourning. -- Chris Sloan Nashville, TN My photos: http://csloan.smugmug.com =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
