What kind of hardware are you using? Generally, the big guys have software that does this, IE: HP Insight Manager, Dell OpenManage (or whatever they're calling it this year), whathaveyou. Otherwise, there's a slew of such things on the market, depending on what you are particularly looking for. The good thing about the vendor ones, is they're free!
