In terms of Microsoft licensing, you *must* use the Microsoft SPLA
agreement, which is basically a rental agrement.

We do exactly this with vanilla TS, and it works fine. You need to put a
*lot* of thought into separation of data areas, but it's not that hard.

It depends a little on what you mean by not being able to open each
other's applicatio, though.

physical server?

[I've already received a couple of answers to this -- thanks
guys! -- but
I was asked to resend it to this list instead of topica, where I
joined
that Thin list not knowing about this one at the time. So here
it goes
again, and thanks again for any help. -- Jay]

My company has tasked me with coming up with a solution to host
applications to multiple companies, using either MS Terminal
Services
(Remote Desktop) or Citrix, using one physical server.

I have searched until I'm blue in the face, but the one thing I
haven't been able to find out is this. If we had Citrix or MS
Terminal
Services with 10 CALs, could we host applications for company A
(w/ 5
CALs) and Company B (w/ 5 CALs) off of the same physical
server...securely and without companies being able to view
things they
shouldn't be able to view, open each other's applications, or
even see
names in the Documents and Settings folder?

Also, if it is possible, is it easy to deploy, offer a good user
experience, and/or is the solution so difficult as to make it
impractical for a company with a light IT department to deploy.

I've been told multiple thing from a different Citrix salesmen,
from
no, to yes, to yes but only with the Citrix Access Suite
($20,000.00)
and its included Citrix Access Gateway device. The other
solutions I
have been given is using one server with vmware virtual systems.
But
before I look into those, I would like a straight answer from
someone
about if a budget setup of Win Server 2003 or Win Server 2003
with
Citrix will actually let multiple companies access one server in
an
        application hosting environment.

Personally, I have gone out of my way to plug Citrix, but I
think my
company is wanting to go with Terminal Services because it is
cheaper.
So an answer geared toward Terminal Services would be much
appreciated, but if it is only possible by adding Citrix into
the mix,
then let me here comments on that as well.

Any reply would be so greatly appreciated.

        Thanks,
