Greg: Do you by any chance use NMCI? _________________________ Hector Minero -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Greg Reese Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2007 10:17 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Smart card problems on Neowares yes. The ActivIdentity website should have rom files for their readers. It might be worth trying an SCR331 with the latest rom which is 3.25. when I last tested a Neolinux thin client with CAC only the ActivIdentity readers worked with NL 2.4 but the SCR readers worked with 2.5 and higher. If you look at one of those and the standard SCR331, you can tell they are probably made in the same factory but there is something different in the ROM image. The ROM image and version of the readers is very important. We see similar issues with HP thin clients and XPe. On Dec 6, 2007 8:28 AM, Greg Reese <gareese@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: not entirely true. Once ActivCliet 6 was installed on the servers, the problems with Neolinux went away. The guys from Neoware did visit an let us preview the new Neolinux and it worked fine. I think that was Neolinux 4 but it's been a while and I forget. On Dec 5, 2007 9:24 PM, Steve Snyder <kwajalein@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: This somehow sounds strangely familiar... We tried, oh Lord how we tried to make these things work with CACs (we're .mil too) and they just failed miserably. We were using neolinux - don't recall if we ever tried their WinCE units - and PS4.0 on W2K3 servers with TW/ACG. IIRC NeoWare even sent folks out to one of our offices and they could never get them to work properly (same symptoms that you're experiencing). Anyway, we sent them back and went with embedded XP on the HP units as Greg is a HUGE HP/Wyse TC fan (he loves Devo too). :D Send them back while you can get your money back. ----- Original Message ----- From: Minero, Hector B CIV NSWCDD, K55 <mailto:hector.minero@xxxxxxxx> To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2007 3:28 AM Subject: [THIN] Smart card problems on Neowares Hi all, I've been fighting this problem for a week and can't seem to find a solution. We just bought a few Neowares and we are having problems with Smart cards becoming unresponsive. The Neowares connect via ICA to PS 4.0 Win2k3 servers. Users log on with their Smart cards, they lock their screen, and take their cards out. When they try to unlock their screen, the system will not unlock. It gives different messages such as "The credentials cannot be verified", sometimes it does not prompt for a PIN, sometimes it is plainly unresponsive. We are running: PS 4.0 Hotfix Rollup 3 and some at 4, Win2k3 SP2. The servers have: ActivClient 6.1, and Tumbleweed Desktop Validator. Linux Neowares (Neolinux version 4.0, revision 5267) On a side note, this problem is not showing for 200 XP Wyse clients. So, this seems to be a Neoware-Citrix issue. We called Neoware support and they said they are aware of it, but think it's a Citrix problem. I'd just like to know if anyone out there has experienced similar issues.
