Do you mean to say store a fax number with a user object?

Then no.

A word of caution, too - there's a lot more attributes available in the
schema than exposed by either ADU&C or an LDAP browser.

If you look in the schema management MMC (be careful!) and browse all
the optional attributes that go with different classes of object, you'll
likely be quite surprised.
