Most manuf's give you the option to choose other wireless options. Dell
gives you 4 options. Centrino machines are also Pentium M processors,
instead of the original P4-Ms. The draw of it all is the new CPU. Everyone
just calls them Centrino's because of the marketing.

Centrino is really a package of options. It's more of a marketing thing,
than a specific chip. You'll find that a lot of laptop manufacturers use
the Intel Mobile processors that the Centrino package includes, but forgoe
the 802.11b(?) that Intel provides. The Intel provided wireless is the
older, slow technology. I hear that Intel will be revving it to 802.11g
in the next few months. If you don't need the Centrino logo, opt for a
manufacturer that uses the same processors, but provides the faster
wireless.

What are your thoughts / experience on the Centrino based Laptops? Looking
to get a bunch of our mobile users new machines and not too sure if I should
look at Centrino / P4 / AMD processors. The users are in and out of the
office about 50% of the time. Not too heavy CPU intensive while connected on
site. Most of the users will also install the odd game here and there.
Thanks
