If your users do not have Delete access on the
C:\WINNT\System32\spool\Printers folder, these files will stay there.
Every time a user prints something, this file is created. When the job
prints, it is deleted ( if the user has Delete access in this folder ).
If they do not have the proper access, these files stay there and new
ones are created each time they print.

I was clearing out a stuck print job in the spool\printers folder when I

noticed I have thousands of files that begin with SPL and have some =3D
numbers and a .tmp extension. SPL1445.tmp for example. They are =3D
mostly several weeks and even months old. They are a few hundred k in =

size and I have 4 gb worth hanging in my spool folder. =3D20
I always thought the .spl and .shd files were the print jobs so what the

heck are these.
I tried stopping the spooler and deleting them a few chunks at a time =
=3D
but the server just hung up then blue screened so I am going to leave =
=3D
well enough alone for now.
