Why don?t you try uninstalling 8 and then installing 7 to see if that helps.

Subject: [THIN] Acrobat Reader 8 / PS 4 / IE6 Plugin Failures
Hi Everyone,
We?ve got a reoccurring problem viewing PDFs in IE6 ?..
Server farm is Windows 2003, PS4, IE6, Acrobat Reader 8.
When you click on a PDF link in IE6 the plug in does not activate and the
user just gets a red X.
This happens for all users, including administrators logged on directly to
the console.
When Acrobat Reader is uninstalled and reinstalled, everything works fine for
hours / weeks / days (including after reboots etc), until for no apparent
reason it ?breaks? again for everyone.
I?ve searched around and have found cases of others with the same problem,
but all the suggestions just seem to be ?uninstall all previous versions of
acrobat reader and reinstall the latest one?, which I have done.
Has anyone found a permanent solution?
Cheers.
