Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Howdy All! =20 =20 I took a stroll around the lake trail this afternoon getting ready for a hike that I'll be doing this weekend. Yes, of course, I took my binoculars. I had a surprising 37 species. The highlight was a lone Greater Scaup diving near the lighted pier. The lake had the usual Coots, Pied-bills, Ring-billed and Ruddy Ducks. I unintentionally "chased" a Belted Kingfisher around the lake. There were several flocks of small birds like chickadees and titmice. Both species of Kinglets were easy to find as were Brown Creepers. I wish I had more time to spend on the dam. There was a lot moving around in the tall grass and shrubs but all I could make out were Song Sparrows and Cardinals. This is the area where I had a LeConte's Sparrow a few weeks ago. All three Nuthatches were in the playground area. =20 =20 Tyler SP (PPW-E 065), Smith, US-TX Dec 4, 2012 2:20 PM - 4:30 PM Protocol: Traveling 2.1 mile(s) 37 species =20 Mallard 6 Ring-necked Duck 8 Greater Scaup 1 Ruddy Duck 12 Pied-billed Grebe 12 Double-crested Cormorant 1 Great Blue Heron 1 Great Egret 1 Black Vulture 20 Turkey Vulture 15 American Coot 20 Belted Kingfisher 2 Red-bellied Woodpecker 4 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 2 Downy Woodpecker 2 Pileated Woodpecker 2 Eastern Phoebe 3 Blue Jay 1 American Crow 8 Carolina Chickadee 5 Tufted Titmouse 9 Red-breasted Nuthatch 2 White-breasted Nuthatch 2 Brown-headed Nuthatch 1 Brown Creeper 4 Carolina Wren 2 Golden-crowned Kinglet 6 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 5 Northern Mockingbird 1 Pine Warbler 2 Yellow-rumped Warbler 10 Chipping Sparrow 3 Song Sparrow 4 White-throated Sparrow 10 Northern Cardinal 7 Pine Siskin 10 American Goldfinch 30 =20 =20 Good birding, =20 Boyd A.
