If you enter your sightings on e-bird, do you know how to use e-bird alerts?
You could set up an alert for all birds not on your e-bird life list for
Harris, Brazoria and Chambers Counties.
Even if you aren't registered with e-bird, you can use Range and Point Maps
from within Explore Data to see all observations of a species that have been
reported.  Limit it to current year.  Then zoom in on your area. It will show
where they've been reported, and you can click on the flags to see the dates
and how many. Click on each row to see the actual checklist.

There have been two reports of Wood Storks at the Baytown Nature Center, both
in April.  Opening the checklists, however, reveals that they were flyovers,
heading north.  The Baytown Nature Center has a lot of reports during July over
the years, however,

For Swallow-tailed Kites, between June & August, drive Highway 90 from Dayton
to Liberty.

I saw a Swallow-tailed Kite over my neighborhood the other day, but it's only
the third one I've seen there in the last four years.

Can anyone help me on a good place to find my lifer Swallow-tailed Kite and
Wood stork? I missed them both last year during migration and this year as
well! I'm around the Houston area but I'm willing to drive, anything to see
these cool birds.
