At Mitchell Creek Preserve in Donley County on Sunday, 18-MAY 2014, migrating birds continued to move through the Panhandle. I saw Yellow-rumped, Yellow and Wilson's Warblers along with flocks of Chipping Sparrows and Clay-colored Sparrows and a Gray Catbird. All the usual breeding birds were present save Common Nighthawk and Chuck-wills Widow. Red-headed Woodpeckers (15) seemed to be everywhere. I heard Eastern Screech Owls at two spots---they survived the fire in 2006 but have yet to fully recover in numbers. Total species for the morning: 33.
