The Crimson-collared Grosbeak was heard between 9-10:30 am on Saturday May 17 2014 at the Frontera Audubon Thicket on Texas Blvd in Weslaco TX in the Rio Grande Valley. It called repeatedly for short periods than would go silent. It was first heard near the small pond on the north side where there is a bench (actually just before this in the woods south of the trail). It later moved to the area near the gait to the trail systems in the woods near the out building. Despite repetitive calling we never did get a look at this bird. Males in Mexico are often quite secretive also. -- Terry W Fuller San Benito/Harlingen Terrywfuller@xxxxxxxxx Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
