What a morning at Lake Lewisville Environmental Learning Area {LLELA} this
morning! We had the best birds right in the parking lot! Trees full of busy
Orchard & Baltimore Orioles, several Yellow-billed Cuckoos, Indigo & Painted
Buntings, a single female Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Blue-grey Gnatcatcher,
White-eyes Vireo, Lark Sparrows, Western & Eastern Kingbirds, Scissortails,
Barn, Cliff & Northern Rough winged Swallows along with Purple Martins. Great
Egrets fishing at the outflow of the dam and a flyby Green Heron as well. We
made it to the banding station to see their final banding of a Swainson's
Thrush. Today the place was void of warblers; what a difference a day makes!
It is SO nice to see all the areas full of water again! River Otter are back
as are the Beavers and alligators.
PLEASE NOTE….Due to the rescheduling to the Ale of a Trail race @ LLELA the
bird walk for June has been moved up to June 6th. Join us!
