Bill:
I have never seen a stk-730 IC in a CTC169 chassis. His set should use the
Chopper transistor Q4101. He needs to change the Regulator IC U4101 and
C4108.
Q4101 is Chopper transistor in power supply. The fix is:
Change C4108 which causes high bias on Q4101 (200165)
and its failure. Also replace U4101(200419). Do not sub Chopper or IC. Done
100's of these, if you do not replace IC and C4108, the set will recall in
most cases. Also change C4118 and C4102 The main thing to check is
your B+ in stand by which all of the above caps, if defective, will go as
high as 200 volts (it's supposed to be approximately 140 volts)

Frank,
Your original Q4101 should have been a D2012, and from a quick glance at the
two spec sheets NTE2311 should have worked, so I would guess that's not your
problem, just a symptom. Check your regulator U4101, which should be a
STK730-010 and will cross with a NTE7125. Also check CR4122 and your 333k
resistor at R4110, which may be taking a quite a stress if it is your
regulator.
Hope this helps...
