Dear Albert; Did you see all the motors running?(Upper Cylinder[head],Capstan)and the tape reels turning? Did the Vcr Load the tape all the way to the stop positions beside the Head? Finally, if you saw all the motors turning as they should,and the tape was loaded properly, did you see a carrier change at the RF output(on the tv/monitor screen)? Any one of these things can cause an 'error' message.
