I have seen these also short the g2 pin on crt. i have an old tube power
supply that goes to 400v that i used to remove the g2 short with before.
I just momentarily touched the + to g2 while set was on.
I would look at the g2 voltage 1st and see if it drops when this happens.
may not be your problem.
