Robert, Not long ago I had occasion to have a special battery made up by BatteryPlus. I watched the man use a fancy spot-welder. It had two small points made of brass. I asked him about it. The trick is to use the right amount of current to make a solid spot-weld instantly without heating the battery. He showed me a chart which told him what setting to use on different cases. He also showed me different tips he uses. BatteryPlus is a store where you can purchase batteries for almost anything. If you need something super special, they will put one together for you on the spot. Ty Tiberius Kraemer BLUE STAR ELECTRONICS 3312 Silverton Rd. I have soldered on wires to new batteries like this. Scrape the surface of the battery first to allow the solder to stick and don't get too hot while soldering Heat is not a good thing for batteries Robert tvservice@xxxxxxxxxxxxx H & H Electronics Inc ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ohio Consumer Electronics" <samurai@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Tech Assist" <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, August 27, 2004 1:11 PM Subject: [TechAssist] Welding tabs on batteries > Hi folks, > I just took my ailing laptop battery pack apart to see if I might be able to > rebuild it.
