[TechAssist] Toshiba VCR Model# M758c lockup & shutdown Problem

It will take the tape catridge and load it, take the tape guides forward and
retact them then the display on the vcr will loose segments or will shut
down all together and power shuts off .Checked various components in the
power supply and replaced IC 801 STRD6004X.
Still doing the same thing.This unit does not have the mechanical type mode
switch it is electronic not sure how it actauly works.
Has anyone seen a simular problem and what they did to rectify it on this
make ?
Realy stuck on this one.Any suggestions or hints would be appreciated
