 I do have the remote but the TP button doesn't do anything. I would think 
you 
 would have to do something more then hitting the TP button or it wouln't be

 You must have the remote control to get it out of child lock (Tamper
 Proof).  It has the TP button on the remote.  I know of no other way. 
 Been there, done that.
