Matt, the solder connection problem in the Sony IF block is the little
transformers rather than the grounds, specifically the AFT transformer. You
probably should also pull the tuner and resolder all the ground points in
it.

Sony TV
Model: KV2780R
Tuning(picture and sound) is in and out.  Pulled the IF pack and resoldered
the grounds and other various connections(think I did them all).  No help.
Anyone have any info on this set?  TIA!
