[TechAssist] Samsung DVD, Model DVD 611, Plays CD's But Not DVD's

Folks, would someone with superior knowledge please explain to an aging
technician how a DVD player can recognize and play all CD's but not one DVD.
A general question, indeed, which might bend the rules of the list, but will
