The switchmode load is constant power, so the pulse width modulator will
narrow up the pulses if the supply voltage increases, reducing the average
input current. Same thing is true of none-electronic constant power load
devices, like refrigerator compressor motors. Decrease the input voltage and
the input current increases. This increases the I-squared-R loss in the
motor and it runs hotter. So if the power company decides to give you
reduced voltage you start overheating compressor motors.
