Mine had indications of a shorted cpu loading down the start voltage(7.6V
down to 4.8 v on pin 20 with C3126 ok and all glue removed so I gave an
estimate with that in mind and consitat with the possibilty of a eeprom
realign too). I haven't seen a bad eeprom on a 185 yet either but I was
leary of replacing on the 185 chassis after reading several post on eeproms
on tha chassis having individual tunner setting requiring complete
realignment of the tunner settings when the data was unrecoverable.

Hollis and All:

Do you see many CTC185's with bad eeproms? I see them bad all the time on
CTC175's thru CTC187's because of the tuner wrap problems. I might have
missed diagnosed some CTC185's because I don't think I have ever seen a bad
one on those. Most of the time they have power supply problems, however, I
have not fixed every one, but most. You would think the eeproms would fail
in those just like on the other TCE chassis, I just thought they didn't
because of the different tuner design. That is a good tip, I need to keep
the eeprom in mind on the CTC185. Thanks.

I guerss you didn't read my suggestion. I just fixed three of these by
changing the eeprom. Hollis Bates, field engineer-retired
