Thanks for the information Wayne. I just noticed that Q4161 gets quite hot after just a minute, so I have a short somewhere off this transistor, now just to find it. I'll let you know what I find. I may have a few more questions before this is all over. U3101 pins: 18 on/off 31-32 crystal 33 reset low 40 data 41 clock 42 5v The reset pin, 33, is feed by the 12v supply true zener cr3101 with r3116 2400 ohms to ground. The 12 V supply is sourced by transformer T4601, diodes cr4601-4. Q4161c connects to cr4603/4 cathodes and is 22v. Q4161e is the 12V standby source, which also feeds q4160, the 5V standby reg. Q4160e being the 5v supply. It has been a long time since I have seen one of these, so this is from memory. Looking down at the component side of the board with the tuner on your left. Towards the left hand side look for a diode that in standby has voltage on the anode but not on the cathode, if so, change it.
