I had not thought about it until just seconds ago, but... When was it that the FCC stated that all TVs must receive closed caption? Wasn't that about half a dozen years ago? If it is required that the set (manufactured after date X) be able to receive closed caption, wouldn't intentionally disabling the function be, if not illegal, very questionable?
