From what I remember with my old atrophied grey matter, there were quite a number of symptoms related to the failure of the caps in that circuit. The first set that I ran across with the video smear, under warranty, many, many years ago ended up having most of the video circuit replaced before the filters around the flyback were attacked. I wasn't suggesting that the set had jail bars, only that that could be one of many symptoms.
