SECOND POST Hi Techs, I'm still looking for feedback on this problem (described below). Does any one have an idea on this? I sure could use some help. Thanks. David Lessard Alexandria, Ontario. Once in awhile it will successfully read a DVD but even then it takes almost 20 seconds before it can actually reads the TOC off the DVD, same problem with audio CD's. I'm aware of the laser assembly "ribbon cable" issue. Question: Is it possible that the ribbon cable is causing this problem because it would seem to me that if the cable was disconnected that the DVD's wouldn't read at all. Second question: Is anybody out there authorized Onkyo? According to Onkyo there is a service bulletin which talks about a firmware upgrade (2.40) (and the cable issue). Apparently this model has problems reading multilayer DVD's. This upgrade is supposed to take care of that and is available to authorized service depots only. This unit belongs to my mother and she is quite fond of it - I'd appreciate any help on fixing this problem. I hope I don't need a remote to fix this problem because her toy poodle ate that years ago. Thanks in advance, David Lessard Alexandria, Ontario.
